ok i really didnt want to make a post about this but no one on earth is using their brains so i guess i have to. im doing this on a sideblog so i get less harassment LOL
so like… everyone on earth is making jokes about “femboys” right now because i guess thats the big meme of the month but like. that word comes from transmisogynist porn… like before maybe a year ago i didnt see anyone identifying with it positively at all, it was in my experience exclusively used in transmisogynist porn contexts. and i have been openly critical of it as soon as i first started seeing people “reclaiming” it as an actual identity. but now its a Joke so everyone is saying it extra much and it literally makes it impossible to use any social media.
and please dont say that it’s not transmisogynist bc its actually talking about “feminine men” or something, like what do you think transmisogynists see trans women as? that is absolutely the origin of the term. if you can understand how terms like “tr*nny” or “sh*male” are transmisogynist, why cant you understand this term? (not saying its necessarily as bad as those ones but there are a ridiculous amount of transmisogynist terms)
and im not the only one who feels this way, ive talked to other trans women about it and they all feel similarly about it. i dont know how its gotten this big without me seeing one single post about the word’s origins but people seem genuinely unaware, so hopefully this will make at least some people stop joking about it?
and if youre reading this please reblog it, its extremely exhausting having to explain this to people every time i see someone making jokes about the word. and if you arent transfem please also make sure you get other people to stop when you see it. link them this post if you want but please say something. dont tolerate transmisogyny.
